Corporate Wellness Research Awards 2017

Our PhD students from Erasmus University Center of Excellence for Positive Organizational Psychology Jesper Hopstaken (finished in 2016) and Yuri Scharp (started in 2017) won Best dissertation and Best paper awards.

Jesper Hopstaken (left on picture) won the Corporate Wellness Research Award 2017 with his dissertation "Conquering Fatigue: The battle for engagement" (supervised by Arnold Bakker, Dimitri van der Linden, and Michiel Kompier). Jesper used lab experiments and physiological trackers (eye-trackers, heart-rate variability) to study the influence of motivation on fatigue and performance. His articles can be found on ResearchGate.

Yuri Scharp won an award for his master thesis, entitled 'Gamification: A bottom-up approach' (supervised by Dimitri van der Linden). He concludes that fun and competition may reduce boredom at work, and increase creativity. Yuri started his PhD research in September 2017, and will study Playful Work Design during the next four years at Erasmus University.
